Have you ever gone out to eat at a fancy restaurant and they had your name printed on the menu? And, the wait staff gives your table extra attention because it’s a special occasion? Or maybe something much simpler, like going to an ice cream parlor and getting to pick out your own toppings? In both cases, you were offered a custom experience, and it made you feel extra special .
Salon owners can, and should, offer custom experiences to their guests. Why? Because we are in the beauty and service industry, and our success depends on happy customers. By offering a custom experience to each of your guests, you are making your salon unique. You are also increasing the chances of happy customers who are more likely to return to your salon.
What can you do to create a custom experience?
Creating a custom experience for your salon guests doesn’t have to be difficult. It just takes some time to pull together a few creative thoughts. For starters, here’s a list of things you can try at your salon.
- Keep track of your guests’ birthdays and send a handwritten note when their day rolls around. Better yet, offer a complimentary service if they book an appointment during their birthday month.
- Keep track of the products clients purchase from your salon. This way you can send emails asking if they like the product, or send an email reminder a few months after they purchased to encourage them to buy again.
- Offer Meet Your Stylist! Meet Your Stylist is a survey that can be customized to your salon. It allows new and potential salon clients to get matched with the right stylist at your salon. This survey not only asks about clients’ hair needs, it also asks questions about their personality. By taking this survey, you get valuable information that can be used to create a salon experience that’s unique to each client! They get the power to pick the stylist they want based off their individual personality and hair needs. How cool is that?!?
