Let’s face it, due to the nature of our business, we use a ton of water each and every day. The cost of our water usage doesn’t come cheap, and while we’re not asking you to stop shampooing your guests, wasting water does take a toll on both the environment and on our pocket books.

So, today we’re sharing two solid tips for reducing water waste in order to help you become a more sustainably minded salon and save you some big bucks.

Be Mindful About Running Your Machines

One way to save big on water is to make sure that you’re only running your dishwasher and laundry machines when you have full loads. It might sound obvious, but during a typical day at the salon we’re constantly running our machines in order to stay on top of things.

So, if this means purchasing a few more towels, capes or cups to get you through, do it! You’ll be saving big on your water and electric bills while ALSO saving the environment!

Fix Those Leaky Faucets ASAP

Did you know that even a slow drip could mean 150 – 300 gallons of water waste every month?! Not to mention it chewing up your water bill big time. And a faster drip is likely wasting three times that.

We’re constantly turning our faucets on and off, especially in the shampoo room, so it’s super important to stay on top of any leaks. Not only will this help to keep costs down, but the planet will also thank you!
